I was waiting in line at the Gallery1988 Lost Art Show on Melrose on December 15, 2009, and the LOST producers, Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof, made an appearance! They both saw the quilt and I asked them to sign the label. Damon wrote: "Bonnie, The quilt is Love, Your constant, Damon" and Carlton signed his name. They both seemed pretty impressed with the quilt! I was in seventh heaven!

Quilt getting Comic Con 2009 Coverage

I attended the 2009 Comic Con this year to be a part of the final LOST panel (boo-hoo). We all camped out overnight to assure getting in with good seats! I brought along my quilt and actually used it for warmth while waiting/sleeping in line.

I was introduced to Whitney from Pop Candy by Jo of JOpinionated fame, and in her blog on USAToday, a picture of me with my quilt was the only picture in her post! I'm now known at the Lost Grandma!

I was also interviewed by Khris of the Official Lost Podcast! He came out to the line about a 1/2 hour before we were let in. Of course, it was heavily edited. Just remember....I have been in a line about 12 hours when I was videoed! My quick section is at about :30.

UPDATE: There is a new version of the ABC Official Lost Podcast out and my "interview" is much longer and my name is actually flashed on the screen! Thanks to The ODI for letting me know.

There's No Place Like Home

The LOST quilt has found a home! It's hanging in my quilting room so I can look at it all the time and bask in the memories of Seasons 1-4!

It's next to part of my fabric stash --
a quilter never has enough fabric!

It's Finished!

I finished working on my LOST-themed quilt! And I'm very proud of it. I included a lot of pictures in the post because I wanted to show you all the images I used. There are 96 "moments" and 48 "character" images plus the center logo.

The center of the quilt symbolizes the survivors surrounded by water since they're on an island. I quilted undulating lines to indicate the feel of water.

I quilted leaves in this border which, of course, symbolizes the jungle. I put the octagon shape in each corner.

Here are the major LOST characters from Seasons 1 -4

The moments from Season 1 -4 are on sand-colored fabric to symbolize the beach.

Here is the label for the Lost quilt. All quilters put a label on the back of their quilts: They usually have a title and the name of the quilter with a date. Additional information can be added like who the quilt was for and for what occasion. (For some reason, I don't know how to get the images up from Word. I put the Lost cast picture in the center, and a picture of a palm tree on an island on either side.) I wanted to put in some of the most notable quotes, some things that didn't work well in an image (for example, The Whispers), and the major themes of the show.

Today I purchased the backing fabric for the LOST Quilt! I thought these palm trees were perfect!

I put the quilt "sandwich" together (top, batting and backing) and have started quilting it.

Lost Quilt

After many years, I finally got inspired to create a LOST quilt. LOST is my favorite television show of all time. As an avid quilter, what better way to pay homage to it than by making a quilt!

The center is the much seen LOST logo. I surrounded it with ocean fabric to illustrate that they are on an island. The character portraits are on a green background to represent the jungle and the highlights from the first four seasons are on a sand-colored fabric to represent the beach.

This is in the preliminary stage...just the top is completed. It still needs to be quilted. This is how I got to this stage: I printed images I found on various fan sites on specially treated fabric. I then added a fusible paper product to "glue" down the photos. I am now securing them down by satin stitching around the edges.

This quilt is not for sale, and is for my own personal use. The photos depicted on it are in the public domain, having been downloaded from various fan sites. Therefore, it is not in violation of any copyright law. (Hubby suggested I say this to make things clear!)
